The Artisans who Carry a Tradition
At Secoin, we always say: “A cement tile is not only a tile it is the mark of a human hand.” For more than a century, Vietnamese artisans have been shaping these tiles with patience and pride. Each mold filled with color, each press of the hand, each polish on the surface – all reflect the care and soul of the maker.
Proudly Made by Vietnamese Artisans
Today, Secoin is home to almost one hudred artisans, many of them second or even third generation tile makers. They grew up with this craft, watching parents and grandparents create patterns on cement tiles. Their skill is not learned in a classroom, but passed down through years of practice, mistakes, and love for the job.
When you hold a Secoin tile in your hand, you hold the touch of a Vietnamese artisan -steady, skillful, and full of pride.
Keeping the Craft Alive
Cement tiles are handmade, one by one. There is no machine that can replace the eyes that judge the color, the hands that smooth the surface, or the patience that waits for the tile to cure. At Secoin, we work hard to keep this tradition alive while improving the quality every day. Our R&D team supports the artisans, testing new colors and techniques, but it is still the hands of the craftsman that bring life to each tile.
More than a Job, a Way of Life
For our artisans, making tiles is not just work. It is a way of life – an everyday rhythm of mixing, pouring, pressing, and polishing. In every village, in every workshop, there is a quiet pride: these tiles are made in Vietnam, by Vietnamese hands, for the world to see.
Behind every stunning pattern lies a meticulous process that only seasoned artisans can master. The journey of a Secoin cement tile begins with the creation of a brass mold, shaped precisely to match intricate geometric or floral designs. Our artisans then skillfully pour a liquid mixture of high-grade cement, natural pigment, and marble dust into each section of the mold. It requires a steady hand and years of intuition to ensure the colors blend perfectly without bleeding. Once the pattern layer is set, back-up layers of sand and dry cement are added to provide structural strength. The tile is then hydraulically pressed, carefully washed, and left to cure naturally in a controlled environment. This labor-intensive craftsmanship ensures that no two tiles are exactly identical, giving your space a truly unique, soulful masterpiece.
Guided by Heart and Passion
Our Board of Directors is committed to protecting this heritage. With passion and vision, they create opportunities for the craft to not only survive but to grow – from the workshops of Vietnam to homes and buildings in nearly 60 countries around the world.
Every Secoin tile carries a story — the story of Vietnam, of its people, and of the artisans whose hands keep this tradition alive.
