Secoin Terrazzo Floor Maintenance Guide
To preserve the long-lasting beauty of your Secoin terrazzo floor, proper maintenance is essential. Although terrazzo requires minimal care, consistent maintenance is critical to protect its surface and appearance. This guide outlines key steps and best practices for maintaining your terrazzo tiles effectively.
Our terrazzo tiles are manufactured with a built-in protective sealer mixed directly into the color layer during production. This integrated sealer offers long-term protection while allowing the tiles to breathe. Additionally, a surface coating is applied during production to help protect the tiles during installation. After the flooring is installed, we strongly recommend applying a surface sealer to enhance protection and achieve the desired shine and polish.
The care and maintenance of your terrazzo floor depend on the level of foot traffic it receives. Always use pH-neutral cleaning products, as acidic or alkaline substances can damage the terrazzo surface.
Ensure mops, brooms, and buckets are clean before use. Dirty tools can act as abrasives and scratch the surface. Apply multiple coats of sealer until the desired gloss is achieved, and monitor how long the polish lasts based on traffic patterns. This will help determine how frequently to reapply a topcoat.
Recommended Cleaning Schedule
Below is a sample schedule that can be tailored to your building’s traffic level:
