Installation guide Concrete roof tile | |

1. Rafter and batten support installation
Installation of rafter and batten is shown in Picture No. 1, paying attention to the following:
- If roof deck is made from wood or metal, roof slope should be over 30 degree.
- If roof deck is made from concrete, roof slope can be less than 30 degree.
2. Batten layout
- If roof deck is made from wood or metal, spacing between battens is devided into equal gauge of 290 - 300 mm depending on roof slope. If roof deck is made from concrete, this space can be larger but must not exceed 360 mm.
- Batten spacing is devided starting from roof top. The balance will be left for the lowest row or the end column.
3. Main roof tile installation
- Lay one full row of tiles for the lowest row. Then, continue to lay tiles upwards and from left to right. The first tile is placed on the left with a distance of 30 mm from the fascia board.
- Put the first row of tile perpendicularly to fascia board.
- Each tile is fastened on batten by steel screws L = 40 - 60 mm (using only one screw on the left can be acceptable).
4. Rake and round ridge installation
- Fix
round ridge tiles by dry plastic mortar by putting mortar equaly at the
bottom edge of tiles. When mortar is hard enough, remove the unwanted
mortar with a trowel to smoothen the mortar bed.
- When installating rakes, it is necessary to put tiles press against the fascia board (please refer to Picture No. 2).
5. Cleaning and finishing the roof
- When the bedding surface becomes whiten, wipe with a sponge.
- Coating the mortar bed with Secoin’s special acrylic paint so that it has the same colour with roof tiles. |
